Designed for GPU assisted workloads, the 2U PowerEdge R750xa Server supports 3rd generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors with two sockets. Al, Machine Learning, Deep Learning training and inference are supported in addition to high-performance computing, plus support for highly-virtualized environments. It can support up to 8x SAS, SATA NVMe drive bays, and outfitted with Intel Optane memory modules can provide up to 8TB of memory.
There are 32x DDR4 memory module slots total, with 16x slots per CPU socket. Registered DIMMs (RDIMM) will provide up to 2TB max., while Load-Reduced DIMMs (LRDIMM) will provide up to 4TB of memory. Up to 16x Intel Persistent Memory (PMem) 200 series modules can be installed for up to 8TB paired with up to 2TB of LRDIMMs installed in the remaining slots and equally distributed between the CPUs for up to 10TB max. Only ECC memory is supported.
Various storage configurations are supported and include 8x NVMe in a RAID or 6x NVMe direct attached drives. Also, up to 8x SAS/SATA drives, which can be configured in a RAID or a combination of 4x SAS/SATA with 4x NVMe direct attached. Several PowerEdge RAID controllers (PERC) are supported for control of internal drives. The R750xa Server can also support one of Boot Optimized Storage Subsystem (BOSS) Cards to boot the system in a mirrored RAID for redundancy. This system is also compatible with external storage devices including external tape, network attached Storage (NAS) and identity management appliance (IDM) software, plus just a bunch of disks (JBOD) appliances.
